HANDS-ON SCIENCE BASED CONSERVATION
REAL SAFARI. REAL SCIENCE. REAL IMPACT
Join our team in the field for an unforgettable, hands-on experience where adventure meets science. Track wildlife, assist researchers, and make a real contribution to conservation in one of Africa’s last true wilderness areas.
EXPERIENCE THE WILD
AND HELP PROTECT IT.
Conservation Safaris invites you to step behind the scenes of real, science-based conservation. These immersive trips give guests the opportunity to participate in ongoing wildlife research and management from tracking and monitoring animals to helping collect vital field data.
You don’t need to be a scientist just bring your curiosity, energy, and love for Africa. Every activity is guided by our professional conservation and safari team, ensuring a safe, ethical, and unforgettable experience.
ADVENTURE WITH PURPOSE
Your time in the field directly supports our ongoing conservation programs from protecting lions and cheetahs to restoring lost species and preserving habitat for future generations.
Every guest becomes part of our story: hands-on, impactful, and truly life-changing.
“This is conservation in motion not just watching from the sidelines, but being part of something that matters.”
Conservation comes in all different forms and functions, from darting and collaring a lion, to moving a group of elephants from an overpopulated area to one in need of mega fauna, to culling an invasive species in order to balance an ecosystem; there are countless ways for humans to interact with nature and drive meaningful change.
In the modern times of AI and digital reality, it becomes more valuable every day to have physical experiences with the natural world. Learning biology, balance, and connectivity with animals and humans cannot be replaced with a screen. A hands-on conservation experience doesn’t just change a trip, it enriches a person or family for generations to come.
A Living, Breathing Wilderness
Your involvement may include collaring operations on elephants, lions, pangolins cheetahs, fire management strategies, or game counts that are unforgettable; not only because of their intensity, but because they make a tangible difference. These aren’t staged activities; they’re vital conservation actions where your presence matters.
You will meet the people at the heart of this success story: local heroes, including former poachers who now serve as protectors of the Delta. You will also see how conservation connects with communities through projects such as honey production and meat distribution. These initiatives ensure wildlife and people thrive together.
Home to 500 000 acres of pristine ecosystems, Coutada 11 in Mozambique is a conservation success story where hunting revenue, research, and community development work hand in hand to sustain wildlife.
Here, lions roam again, elephants thrive, and the forests echo with the call of birds unseen elsewhere in Africa.
LOCATIONS
In 2026, we will offer a limited number of conservation safaris designed for guests who want to play an active role in meaningful, real-world conservation. These are not staged experiences — they are vital wildlife management operations carried out alongside qualified veterinarians, scientists, and conservation teams.
Massingir – Southern Mozambique
Coutada 11 – Zambeze Delta, Mozambique
Zambeze Delta Safaris has been actively involved in conservation in Coutada 11 for decades, focusing on:
• Lion monitoring
• Pangolin protection
• Elephant management.
This long-term work supports healthy wildlife populations while promoting coexistence between conservation and local communities.
VILANCULOS - Mozambique
A new initiative in an area experiencing significant human–elephant conflict. The project aims to:
• Collar 4 elephants
• Collar 4 hyenas
This work will take place across two conservation safaris, supporting long-term conflict mitigation and wildlife monitoring.
Northern Zululand – South Africa
Long-standing conservation work in this region now focuses on urgent protection efforts, including:
• Rhino de-horning
• Elephant collaring
• Elephant birth-control assistance
In the coastal waters near Vilanculos, conservation efforts focus on GPS tagging and tracking of dugong. This research helps protect critical marine habitats and supports long-term conservation of one of Mozambique’s most vulnerable marine species.
Limited Spaces.
Lasting Impact.
Spaces for Conservation Safaris are limited to ensure every guest enjoys a meaningful, hands-on role. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast, student, or adventurer at heart this is your chance to make a difference.
